That is why treatment must be paired with a vacuuming and laundry routine, and with veterinary treatment for the animal. Skipping either half is why flea problems come back.
Fleas can also appear in a home with no pets — often after a previous tenant's animal, or from wildlife activity in a crawl space or attic.

- Vacuum all carpets, rugs and upholstery, then discard the bag outside
- Hot-wash and dry pet bedding and any throws
- Arrange veterinary flea treatment for all pets in the home
- Clear floors so we can reach edges and under furniture
- Plan for people and pets to be out for the period we specify

- Keep pets on a year-round veterinary flea program
- Vacuum high-traffic pet areas weekly
- Wash pet bedding regularly on a hot cycle
- Address wildlife access to crawl spaces and attics
Seasonal note: Ontario flea activity rises from late spring through autumn, with a common indoor spike in September, but heated homes can sustain a population through winter.

Common questions
How do I tell fleas from bed bugs?
Fleas jump, are usually associated with pets and bite mainly around the ankles. Bed bugs do not jump, hide in bed seams and bite exposed skin overnight.
Why did fleas come back after treatment?
Almost always because pupae hatched afterwards, the pet was not treated, or vacuuming stopped. The follow-up visit and routine matter as much as the initial application.
Are your technicians licensed?
Yes. Pest control in Ontario is regulated, and any pesticide application we perform is carried out by a licensed exterminator working within Ontario's Pesticides Act and the product label.
